Lims1 is a 32bit Windows Client/Server-based suite of executables and is used in a multitude of different environments (over which we have no control).
For SQL Server installations, it is assumed that the database server has already been established.
Lims1 Version 9 is compatible with MS SQL Server Version 2008, 2008R2 and 2012. For other configurations please contact LTech Technical Support.
LTech does not supply SQL Server licences. It is the responsibility of the end-user to have the correctly licensed SQL Server and Client software and the appropriate installation media.
We test against limited versions of Microsoft Office. Lims1 V9 is compatible with later 32bit versions of Microsoft Office (Office 2003 and above) but there are known issues with the 64bit version of Office 2013. If customers depend on Outlook and Excel, they must test the upgraded versions with Lims1 before rolling out to the production environment.
Lims1 depends on each user be able to access (Read and Write) a common network folder. The default path for installation of the application files is C:\Program Files\LTech Australia\LimsOne\bin but with security restrictions usually applied to the C:\Program Files folder for 32bit Operating Systems or the Program Files (x86) folder for 64bit Operating Systems in Windows Vista or later, it is easier to manage if Lims1 is installed to a different drive, e.g. the D: drive. The bin folder must have read/write access. Share out the LTech Australia folder so that it can be used later when the global LimsOne Folder is established.
We have found some issues with 32-bit and 64-bit Citrix and Terminal S execution environments. Specifically, saving/restoring user Registry settings, accessing printers and using the correct Locale. The issues seem to be inconsistent and depend on the client’s specific installation.
Lims1 uses a serial port to connect a balance to some applications. This connection may be difficult to establish in Citrix, Terminal Services and virtual ( App-V ) environments.
LTech customer service and developer personnel are not experts in the specifics of Citrix, TS or App-V. Customers are expected to test Lims1 in their environments before deployment. We will assist with deployment issues and may make coding changes where this will enhance the compatibility of Lims1 with our customer’s execution environments generally.
